  • Do you teach beginners?

    Do you teach kids?

    Yes. I teach kids from eight years old and above.


    Do I need to be fit before I start boxing training?

    Not at all! It's my job to help you get in shape, no matter where you're starting from. We'll begin at a pace that suits you and gradually build up. So, don't worry about your current fitness level – just turn up, and we'll go from there.


    I’m not looking to become a professional boxer or anything like that. Is boxing still right for me?

    Of course! Boxing training is great for anyone looking to improve fitness, strength, and coordination while getting a fun and stress-relieving workout. My sessions are tailored to your goals, whether you're just looking to stay active or challenge yourself.


    Do you teach amateurs or professionals?

    I welcome anyone who wants to improve their boxing skills, whether they are recreational, amateur or professional boxers. While I do not offer training specifically for competition, I can certainly work with boxers who want to refine their techniques through padwork.


    I just want to do a few sessions before joining a gym. Is that okay?

    Of course! Whether you want to get a feel for boxing or build confidence before joining a gym, I’m here to help. My sessions are tailored to your needs, with no pressure to commit beyond what you're comfortable with.


    I’m preparing for a white-collar fight. Can you train me?

    Although I don’t provide competition-specific training, I’m more than happy to help boxers sharpen their techniques through focused padwork sessions.


    What is padwork?

    Padwork is a versatile training method enhancing punching skills, coordination, and reaction time, suitable for both boxers and fitness enthusiasts. It involves a trainer guiding exercises using padded gloves, helping improve physical and mental agility. This exercise is adaptable for all fitness levels, offering cardiovascular benefits and stress relief.     Is boxing training just about throwing punches?

    No, boxing training is far more than just throwing punches. It includes mastering defensive blocks, precise footwork, and effective head movement. It also focuses on improving cardiovascular fitness, building strength, enhancing agility, and developing mental resilience. Additionally, it involves learning tactical and strategic aspects of the sport, refining techniques, and adapting to different boxing styles. Overall, it provides a holistic full-body workout and fosters extensive skill development.


    How many calories can I expect to burn in a boxing workout?

    The number of calories you burn during a boxing workout can vary depending on your body weight, gender, and workout intensity. According to a case study by FightCamp, participants in an 8-round boxing workout burned an average of 482 calories per session.

    Males burned approximately 595 calories on average.

    Females burned around 369 calories on average.

    The case study also noted that males burned about 40% more calories than females, largely due to differences in muscle mass and workout intensity.

    These numbers were based on participants wearing heart rate monitors during a structured boxing workout, which tracked metrics like punches thrown and heart rate. Depending on the individual, the calories burned could range from 349 to 612 calories per workout.


    How does boxing training improve performance in different sports as part of cross-training?

    Boxing training offers versatile cross-training benefits - it boosts cardiovascular fitness, strengthens the entire body, enhances footwork and coordination, while also sharpening decision-making skills and mental toughness.     Would padwork complement my yoga or Pilates practice?

    Will padwork improve my sparring?

Sparring introduces real-time adaptability, defensive strategies, and the ability to handle unpredictable opponent actions.

    Ultimately, to progress in boxing for competition, it's crucial to incorporate both padwork and sparring into your training. While padwork hones your skills, sparring adds the necessary real-world experience. If you are interested in sparring, I would recommend attending a local boxing club, where you can safely engage in controlled sparring sessions under the guidance of experienced and qualified trainers.

    How long does a typical training session last?

    A typical training session lasts either 45 minutes or 60 minutes, depending on the package you choose. You have the flexibility to select the session duration that best fits your schedule and preferences.

  • Can I participate in boxing workouts if I have a pre-existing medical condition?

    Prior to your first session you will be asked to fill out a Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire (PAR-Q). This is to determine any medical conditions that I may need to take into consideration during training, and that you may need to speak to your GP about. Most people can begin exercise without worry. However, some people may require a preliminary health check to ensure that they are taking on the right level of physical activity for their medical condition.

    What are some common boxing-related injuries, and how can I minimize the risk of experiencing them?

    Common boxing-related injuries include sprains, strains, and bruises from impact, as well as overuse injuries like tendonitis. To minimize the risk of injuries, ensure proper technique and form during all exercises. Use appropriate protective gear like hand wraps and gloves. Gradually increase the intensity of your workouts, allowing your body to adapt. Incorporate rest days into your training schedule to allow for recovery, and listen to your body if it signals any discomfort or pain. Remember, safety is paramount in boxing, so always prioritize injury prevention in your training sessions.

  • How do I book a personal training session?

    Payments can be made through the website. To arrange a time and place for your training, simply get in touch.


    Do you have an automatic booking system?

    No. As a mobile trainer, my schedule requires careful planning to ensure I can reach all my clients on time. For example, if someone in North London books me at 8am for a 45-minute session, it wouldn’t be feasible for me to reach South London by 9am for another client because of an automatic booking system. For this reason, I do not use an automatic booking system, and instead arrange all my bookings manually.


    How far in advance do I need to book a training session?

    I recommend paying for and scheduling your training session at least 24 hours in advance, as other clients may book earlier.


    What if you're unavailable when I enquire?

    There may be times when I'm fully booked, due to high demand. If I'm fully booked at the time of your enquiry, I would say check back in a few weeks, and hopefully, we can arrange a session then. I always aim to accommodate new clients as soon as possible, so I appreciate your understanding and patience during busy periods.


    Can I reserve a session date without purchasing a session package?

    No. All session dates must be secured by making a purchase beforehand to ensure fair scheduling and service commitment. Please make your payment upon booking to confirm your slot.


    How much are the personal training sessions?

    Prices depend on the session type, duration, package, number of participants, and age group.


    Do you have any special offers or discounts?

    Yes! When you invest in a pack, it’s possible for you and a group of friends or family to share between the sessions. To make sure everything runs smoothy, one person from the group should take on the responsibility of coordinating the session bookings with me. This way we can keep track and ensure that everyone gets their fair share of sessions. Just let me know who will be in charge of the coordination and we’ll make it work for everyone involved.


    What is your cancellation policy?

    I have a 24 hour cancellation policy - a minimum of 24 hours prior notice is required of any cancellation of any Personal Training sessions. This can be done via text message or directly through this website. If you do not provide a minimum of 24 hours prior notice, you may lose that session and no refund will be made to you.

    Equally, if you fail to receive a minimum of 24 hours prior notice of any cancellation, having booked a session already, you may be entitled to one Personal Training session in addition to the session you missed.

    Any rearranged sessions will be made to a mutually agreed date and time.


    What if I have to cancel a session due to unexpected circumstances?

    If you need to cancel a session due to unforeseen circumstances, please inform me as soon as possible. I understand that emergencies happen, and I will do my best to reschedule the session at a mutually convenient time within my cancellation policy guidelines.


    I have cold or flu symptoms, should I train?

    No. If you have symptoms of a cold or flu, it’s best not to book a session until you’ve fully recovered. While pushing through might seem tough, training with these symptoms can make you feel worse, and it’s easy to forget that I can catch the illness from you. This could affect my ability to work and train with other clients. Resting when you need it is not only best for your recovery but also helps keep everyone healthy. We can always reschedule your session for when you’re feeling better!


    How long are sessions valid for?

    Sessions are valid for 6 months from date of purchase.

    Do I need a large space for the training sessions?

    Not necessarily. A minimum of 2 square meters is usually sufficient but we can adapt the training to the available space. As long as there's enough room for movement, we can conduct the sessions effectively.


    Can I use my local park?

    The possibility of using your local park for training depends on the specific park’s regulations. Some parks may require a permit for personal training. To explore the best options and ensure we meet any local requirements, feel free to get in touch, and we can discuss suitable locations together.


    Can you conduct sessions in the shared gym facility where I live?

    Yes. However, please consult the person in charge of the gym to obtain permission. I can provide the necessary documents upon request to ensure compliance with their regulations.


    Can you provide your services online or remotely?

    Yes, I offer live online personal training sessions, which are ideal for beginners who have never stepped into a boxing gym. These sessions provide a basic introduction to boxing techniques, helping you build confidence before attending your first in-person class. Additionally, I have a library of virtual padwork videos on social media.


    Can I train with you at a gym instead of at home?

    Yes, I offer gym-based training sessions in select areas of London. The gym-based sessions and packages include a gym hire fee, which encompasses the cost of using the gym facilities. There are no extra charges beyond what is specified in your training package.

    Do you offer training sessions during earlier or later hours?

    How do you handle sessions during bad weather conditions or extreme temperatures?

    In cases of bad weather or extreme temperatures that may affect outdoor training sessions, we may reschedule to a more favourable time, or relocate to a more suitable indoor space if one is available.


    What is your policy for late arrivals to training sessions?

    I understand that sometimes unexpected delays can occur. To accommodate this, I typically offer a 10-minute grace period for late arrivals. However, there may be instances where I won't be able to provide a grace period due to scheduling constraints or other factors. Here's what you need to know:

    • Punctuality Matters: I encourage all clients to arrive on time for their scheduled appointments.

    • 10-Minute Grace Period: If you're running late, please let me know. I'll wait for up to 10 minutes from your scheduled start time. After that, the session will begin, and I won't be able to extend it beyond the original duration.

    • Scheduling Constraints: Please be aware that there may be occasions when I cannot offer a grace period due to a tight schedule or other commitments. In such cases, it's especially important to arrive on time to ensure that you receive the full benefit of your session.

    • Rescheduling: If you're consistently late and a grace period isn't possible, we may discuss rescheduling your sessions for a more suitable time.

    Your punctuality helps me maintain the quality and consistency of my services, benefiting both you and my other clients. I appreciate your understanding and cooperation.


  • Do I need to bring equipment?

    Yes. You will need:

    Boxing gloves are available to borrow upon request.


    What types of training equipment do you provide during sessions?

    I provide focus pads and can also provide boxing gloves and hand wraps upon request. Additionally, I can bring jump ropes, resistance bands and other functional training equipment to enhance your workout.


    What glove size is right for me?

    Boxing gloves come in ounces (oz) of weight rather than sizes. Here is a rough guide to help you choose the right glove for you:

    • If you weigh below 55kg, go for 12oz.

    • If you’re between 55-65kg, go for 14oz.

    • If you’re between 65-85kg, go for 16oz.

    • If you’re above 85kg, go for 16+oz.

    Note: If you intend on sparring at your local boxing gym, they will likely require a minimum of 16oz.


    What hand wrap length is right for me?

    Hand wraps tend to come in lengths of 120 inches (3 meters) or 180 inches (4.5 meters).

    As a rough guide:

    • Adults tend to require 180 inch wraps.

    • Youths tend to require 120 inch wraps.


    How do I wrap my hands?

    To learn how to wrap your hands for boxing, I recommend checking out my blog post titled: "How to Wrap Your Hands." You can watch the video for a step-by-step guide.

    Here are the key steps to follow:

    1. Feed your thumb through the loop.

    2. Wrap the wrist 3 times.

    3. Wrap around the thumb and return to the wrist.

    4. Wrap the knuckles 3 times.

    5. Wrap between the fingers, using the base of the thumb.

    6. Wrap the knuckles again 3 times.

    7. Wrap around the wrist to finish.


  • How frequently should I attend boxing fitness training sessions?

    The UK Chief Medical Officers' (CMO) Physical Activity Guidelines suggest that adults should aim for at least 150 minutes (2 1/2 hours) of moderate intensity activity per week. Moderate intensity activities include brisk walking or cycling. Alternatively, they can aim for 75 minutes of vigorous intensity activity, such as running. It is also possible to engage in shorter periods of very vigorous intensity activity, like sprinting or stair climbing. Combining activities of moderate, vigorous, and very vigorous intensity is also beneficial.

    You can distinguish between moderate and vigorous activity using the 'talk test.' If you can talk but not sing, it indicates moderate intensity activity. On the other hand, if you find it challenging to talk without pausing, it signifies vigorous activity.

    With this in mind, I recommend incorporating boxing fitness training into your weekly routine to meet these guidelines. Depending on your fitness level and goals, attending two to three sessions per week can help you achieve the recommended amount of physical activity and maintain a consistent workout routine. It's important to listen to your body and gradually increase the frequency and intensity of exercise as you progress.


    What if I need to stop training or take a break? How can I restart my sessions?

    I completely understand that life changes, and there may come a time when you need to pause or stop training. Whether it's a temporary break or the end of our sessions together, there's no pressure or expectation. You can always come back whenever you're ready. Feel free to reach out if you ever want to discuss how to transition out of training, or if you'd like to pick things up again in the future. I'm here to support your fitness journey in whatever way works best for you!


    Is it okay to train with you while also training at another boxing club?

    Of course! I understand that you might want to get a variety of training experiences, and there's no need to feel uneasy about it. My goal is to help you improve your skills, whether you're training with me exclusively or combining it with sessions at another club. Every boxer benefits from diverse training approaches, and I’m here to support your progress in any way that works for you.


    How do you track and monitor progress?

    I can evaluate your boxing techniques by adjusting the intensity and complexity of my padwork. For fitness-only sessions, I can note the weights used and record the number of repetitions and sets per session. Additionally, I can monitor your health and fitness through measurements like body mass index, blood pressure, waist-hip ratio, and assessments of aerobic capacity, anaerobic capacity, strength, and power.


    Do I need to memorize all the boxing combinations used in the sessions?

    No need to worry about memorizing boxing combinations. At the beginning of each session, I'll provide a recap of the combinations we've covered previously. This way, you can focus on enjoying and learning in the moment, without the pressure of memorization. Additionally, you'll find that your body naturally remembers these movements over time, and they will come back to you more quickly with practice.

    Can I do a fitness-only session without boxing?

    Yes. While boxing is a fantastic way to get fit, I also offer fitness-only sessions tailored to your specific goals. Whether you're looking to build strength, increase endurance, or just stay active, I can create a personalized workout that doesn’t involve boxing. These sessions focus on a variety of exercises, including bodyweight training, HIIT (High-Intensity Interval Training), strength training, and more. Let me know your preferences, and we’ll design a program that suits your needs.


    May I bring along a friend?

    Yes! Bring along a friend for FREE to any of your personal training sessions.

    If you're looking to train in a small group, I offer specialized personal training sessions for groups of three or four.


    Can siblings share in a youth session?

    When it comes to youth sessions, I usually do them one-on-one. If two siblings want to share a session together, I would have one doing padwork with me and the other doing a circuit of fitness exercises, and we alternate. If fitness exercises are a turn-off, and I need to micromanage the circuit while doing padwork, I would suggest one-on-one rather than shared sessions. Another alternative is to book one hour sessions and split them into 30-minutes per child back-to-back.


    Can a parent and child share a youth session?

    Yes, though the majority of the youth session will be one-on-one training for the child, and a shared fitness circuit for the last 15 minutes.


    What happens in an individual session?

    My sessions typically have four stages:

    1. Warm-up: cardiovascular exercises and dynamic stretches.

    2. Technique: boxing-specific techniques and combinations.

    3. Peak: intense fitness exercises covering all parts of the body.

    4. Cool Down: light cardiovascular exercises, static stretches, and a recap on the boxing.

    I also consider your preferences, whether it is technique, fitness, or both.


    What happens in a shared session?

    My shared sessions also typically have four stages:

    1. Warm-up: cardiovascular exercises and dynamic stretches.

    2. Alternate Rounds: alternate 3-minute rounds of padwork and bodyweight or resistance exercises.

    3. Shared Rounds: both partners on pads with me for high intensity interval training.

    4. Cool Down: light cardiovascular exercises, static stretches, and a recap on the boxing.

    Again, I also consider your preferences, whether it is technique, fitness, or both.


    Will you yell at me like a drill sergeant?

    Only if you want me to. Some people need the drill sergeant experience, others not so much.


    I forgot my wraps/gloves. Can we still train?

    Yes. I always keep extra wraps and gloves on hand for such occasions. Though, I might make you do 20 push-ups. Just kidding …or am I?


    Will I have to do burpees?
